ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday ordered Sindh police to produce Shahrukh Jatoi, the main accused in Shahzeb murder, by January 10.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing of suo motu notice in Shahzeb muder case.
During case proceeding, the bench expressed dissatisfaction over police report.
DIG South Shahid Hayat told court that according to the records the main accused in the case Shahrukh Jatoi had traveled to the UAE under a fake identity and adding that the information of his arrival in UAE was conveyed by the counsel general of Dubai.
“When did police forward the request to put Shahrukh Jatoi’s name on exit control list (ECL)”Justice Azmat Saeed asked.
Shahid Hayat explained that request was submitted on December 27, however, name was placed in ECL on January 2.
Justice Azmat Saeed said the application was forwarded when the accused fled from the country.
On this, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry stated that police deliberately allowed Shahrukh Jatoi to escape from the country.
Later, the bench in its short gave a 3-day deadline to Sindh police to present Shahrukh Jatoi before court.
The case hearing was adjourned till January 10.
