Supreme Court of Pakistan will conduct hearing of the suo moto notice taken against MQM chief Altaf Hussain today (Monday).
Supreme Court bench headed by CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed would conduct hearing of contempt of court notice against Altaf Hussain. Chief justice had taken the suo moto notice of the speech of Altaf Hussain, in which MQM chief had given derogatory remarks against the judges of the SC bench hearing the Karachi law and order case.
The Supreme Court has summoned Altaf Husain personally today (Monday).
On the other hand the Deputy Convener of MQM Dr Farooq Sattar has filed a plea in SC for giving exemption to Altaf from personal appearance in court due to the security threats in Pakistan. The court had ordered to send the notices to Altaf on the Karachi address of MQM headquarter and one through foreign office on the address of London, from where he had delivered the telephonic address in Karachi.
Supreme Court had also issued notices to IG Sindh in Karachi law and order case. It is also worth mentioning here that MQM has formed a nine-member penal of lawyers headed by Senator Barrister Farogh Nasim to plead the case against MQM chief Altaf Hussian.
Meanwhile, MQM parliamentarians, including Nasreen Jalil, Sasay Jalil, Dr Muhammad Ali Shah, Faisal Sabazwari and Dr Sagheer, have reached Islamabad and will be present in the court during hearing.
