Summary Information minister says the government has set the tradition of consensus in the country.
ISLAMABAD: Information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said the incumbent democratic government has set the tradition of consensus therefore, the country is going ahead on the road to progress.
He said this while addressing centennial year celebrations of Pakistan Engineering Congress (PEC) here Monday.
He observed that when PPP led government held the reigns, the country had reached the brink of destruction.
This was being talked that government was not fit for governance but “we” accepted this challenge and took several practical measures to deal with the challenges with the passage of time. Much improvement has come in the situation at present, he remarked.
It was said that writ of only the terrorists was in place in Swat and other areas and it was further said that militants would soon reach Margalla hills but our security forces curbed the growing terrorism and now the government writ was being maintained in these areas, he added.
No one was ready to come to Pakistan to do investment in 2008 and even the engineers were not ready to carry out inspection of the projects here but the well conceived policies pursued by the present government brought remarkable improvement in the situation, he remarked.
The stock market was showing buoyancy, he said. “We imported the wheat when we came to power but now we are exporting it”, he held.
The government promoted politics of reconciliation as the politics has a vital role in the state, he observed.
The Minister stressed on the need to focus on education and health sectors.
Qamar Zaman Kaira urged the media to play a positive role in the war against terrorism.
