'National, provincial assemblies' polls simultaneously not possible'
Secretary ECP says national and provincial assemblies will complete tenures on different dates.
ISALAMABAD: Talking to Dunya News Aishtiaq Ahmad Khan said that the caretaker setup would take over first on the federal level and afterwards in the provinces.
He said national assembly would complete its constitutional tenure on March 16, while Punjab Assembly on April 8, 2013, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa on March 27 and Balochistan Assembly on April 6.
The five assemblies administered oath on different dates, he said; adding in the past all assemblies were dissolved on the same date so there was no problem, he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ibrahim has said that decision about holding general elections on the same day would be taken by the ECP in a special meeting.
He said he cannot take any decision in this regard in his personal capacity.
