Committee to probe cough syrup deaths

The federal government has set up an investigation committee to probe deaths from Tyno cough syrup.

The committee headed by Federal Secretary Imtiaz Anayat Illahi and included Chairman Quality Control Dr Abdul Rashid and Federal Drug Inspector Punjab Sheikh Faqir. The committee will also review post-mortem reports of the victims died after drinking Tyno syrup.

The sources said that federal drug inspectors have collected samples of different batches of Tyno syrup from all over the country and sent them to drug testing laboratory for chemical analysis.
