Summary Jamat-e-Islami's leader Prof Ghafoor Ahmed Wednesday passed away at the age of 85 in Karachi.

 

KARACHI: The JI leader was born on 26 June 1927 in Barely, British India and earned Masters Degree in Commerce from Lucknow University in 1948.


Ghafoor Ahmed later completed a course in Industrial Accounts and won the fellowship, of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan.


He became the member of Jamat e Islami in 1950 and held key positions.


Ahmed served as General Secretary of two political alliances Pakistan National Alliance (PNA) and Islami Jamhuri Ittehad (IJI).


Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan, Wednesday, expressed immense sorrow over the sad demise of veteran politician and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Naib Ameer Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed.


In his condolence message sent to the family members of Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, Imran Khan said that the sad demise of the veteran politician had deprived the country of a seasoned and sincere politician who always strived for revival of democratic process in the country.


He said that the late JI leader had always cared for protection of the public interest.

He prayed that may Almighty Allah rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity.
