Summary Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood says new provinces would strengthen the federation.

MULTAN: Stressing the importance of new provinces of Seraiki, Bahawalpur, Governor Punjab Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood has asked PML-N to end boycott of commission formed for creation of new provinces.

Talking to media at the residence of Senator (late) Malik Salahuddin yesterday Wednesday, he also cautioned PML-N to avoid any undue optimism regarding any increase in its vote bank.

He said that new provinces would strengthen the Federation, while the Punjab Assembly had passed its resolution for a Seraiki province, while eschewing the Bahawalpur province.

He expressed his reservations that only Lahore was being developed, while Seraiki belt was still the most backward one.

“The time has come that keys to the Southern Punjab gateway be handed over to us”, he declared

Replying to a question, he lambasted CM, Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif for issuing tall claims about his (Governor’s) Governorship, as God Almighty had bestowed Punjab’s Governorship to him (Makhdoom).

On the occasion, he also clarified that Governorship was a constitutional post and had no relationship with any caretaker setup, and agreed that the Country was faced with energy crisis, which the government endeavored to rectify.
