Summary KP government has decided to raise the KBD issue and file a case against its construction.
PESHAWAR:-Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued directives to Provincial Secretary of Inter-provincial Coordination to prepare a case against construction of Kala Bagh Dam.
Sources said that the case would be presented in the upcoming meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI). Advice from senior parliamentarians and constitutional experts is also being sought in this context.
The provincial governments of Balochistan and Sindh have also been contacted in this regard and the three provincial governments have decided to take up a similar stand on the Kala Bagh Dam issue in the CCI meeting, sources added.
Sources further said that no concrete decision was taken on Kala Bagh Dam, however water reservoirs came under discussion in the previous meetings of CCI, which can neither be challenged nor any court give verdict on it.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly as well as provincial cabinet adopted the motion against the construction of Kala Bagh Dam thrice in which it had been declared that KBD is the matter of death and life for the province. Apart from this, three provincial governments are also opposing the dam.
The precedents of other democratic countries , where such controversial decisions were taken in the past are also being collected.
