A 6.1 magnitude earthquake jolted Punjab, NWFP and Azad Kashmir late Thursday, reported Dunya News.The earthquake with epicenter in 200 meters deep in Hindu Kush Mountains jolted most parts of the country around 11:44pm on Thursday. According to MET office, the magnitude of the quake was recorded 6.1 on Richter scale. The tremors, lasted for 30 seconds, were felt in Punjab, Peshawar, FATA and other areas including Lahore, Islamabad and Faisalabad. The earthquakes intensity was so high that people rushed out of their homes reciting Quranic verses. No loss of life or property in quake hit areas has been reported so far.
