Summary

No judge including me has committed contempt of court, former chief justice Abdul Hamid Dogar has said. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, former CJ maintained that he considered it necessary to give reply of the contempt of court notice. It is my right to give reply to the notice. It is wrong to say that we committed contempt of court, Dogar added. He elaborated that he wasnt aware of November 3 decision. CJ Iftikhar Chaudhary also took oath under PCO. Judges before us also have been taking oath under PCO, Dogar said. Earlier, justice (R) Dogar submitted detailed reply of the contempt of court notice in the Supreme Court. Former CJ also challenged the constitutional status of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary. Former CJ Dogar was declared unconstitutional CJ after July 31 decision. Later, affected judges filed review petitions which were rejected by the court. The SC also served contempt of court notices on all those judges who had taken oath under PCO. Majority of these judges tendered unconditioned apology in the SC. On the last hearing, Dogars lawyer Ahmad Raza Kasuri appeared before the court and said that Dogar wouldnt tender unconditioned apology. Today Kasuri filed three separate petitions on behalf of Dogar. In one petition he submitted reply of the contempt of court notice consisting on 83 pages. In second petition he challenged constitutional status of CJP and in third petition Dogar challenged July 31 decision.
