Severe jolts of earthquake were sensed in various areas of Punjab and NWFP, which was recorded 6.4 on the Richter scale. Severe jolts were sensed in the areas of Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Mansehra, Hangu, Kohat, Nowshera, Haripur, Shinkyari, Bhalwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Hujra Shah Muqeem, Gujranwala, Abbottabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Hazara, Malakand, Multan, Faisalabad, Chishtiyan, Burey Wala, and Rahim Yar Khan. According to the meteorological department, the epicenter was in the Hindu Kush mountain ranges. Many citizens of various cities came out of their houses and ran towards open areas.
