Summary Election Commission of Pakistan also removes symbols of lota and cat form the electoral list.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission held its meeting in Islamabad Tuesday to review preparations for the next general elections and allotment of symbols to political parties.

The symbol of the lota (ewer) has been withdrawn from the electoral list while the cat has been removed due to its resemblance with the lion which is the symbol of the PML-N.

The meeting was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ibrahim.

The commission will decide if the PTI or JI will be allotted the symbol of the scale after meeting with both parties.

Fakhruddin G Ebrahim expressed concern over errors in the list of voters from Karachi and ordered installation of CCTV at sensitive polling stations.

Ebrahim said that the errors in the voters list should be corrected.

The information technology department of the ECP informed during its briefing that installing CCTVs in all polling stations was not practically possible.

The session was called to discuss preparations for the upcoming general elections and discuss the fate of 43 members of Punjab Assembly on account of dual citizenship submitted by former Ambassador Asif Ezdi.
