Summary Victimization of Gilani family is a conspiracy against the PPP and democracy ahead of general polls.
The PPP Human Rights Cell in its statement issued Monday has termed the continuing victimization of the Gilani family a deep rooted and politically motivated conspiracy against the Pakistan People’s Party and democracy ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
“The highhanded methods by the FIA against the former Prime Minister who strengthened the constitution and the federation are to be condemned,” said the Human Rights Central Coordinator Dr Nafisa Shah.
In a meeting at the Central Secretariat, Central Coordinator Dr Nafisa Shah General Secretary Sheikh Mansoor and Shah Jahan Sarfaraz, strongly criticized the FIA action.
The members further stated that the manner of summoning, especially to explain an appointment which is the prerogative of the Prime Minister makes us believe that’s something else is afoot, as this is not the only instance of humiliating this family. The arrest of Moosa Gilani, the cases against Abdul Qadir Gilani, and now Yusof Raza Gilani seem all to be a part of a plan to victimize the Gilani family, which has stood up for rule of law and democracy,” they asked.
The members noted that the Privileges committee has taken up this matter in their agenda but they further called upon the Committee to ensure that FIA explained its inappropriate and uncalled for act against the former Prime Minister who steered the country out of crisis, restored the judiciary, and strengthened the parliament.
