Bill to validate Gilani’s acts to be tabled in NA today

Summary A bill to validate ex-PM Gilani’s acts during disqualification period will be tabled in NA today.

 

Federal Law Minster Farooq H Naik will present the bill today (Monday) in the National Assembly to validate orders issued by former Prime Minister Gilani during April 26 to June 19, 2012 (both days inclusive).

 

The government intends to lay report of the Sanding Committee on Law and Justice on a bill recommending validation to the acts and decisions made by former premier.

 

The Supreme Court issued a short order on June 19, passed on constitution petitions No 40 etc of 2012 and disqualification notification as member of the national assembly issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on same day consequently Syed Yousaf Raza Gaillani had ceased to be the member as well as prime minister of Pakistan with effect from 26-04-2012.

 

On the other hand, former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has submitted his reply to FIA in the Hajj corruption case. Gilani has termed the FIA notice as unconstitutional.

 

In his reply, the former PM said that all appointments are made after receiving summary from concerned departments.

 

Gilani also expressed dissatisfaction over the appointment of FIA investigation officer Hussain Asghar in the Hajj corruption case.
