The session of National Judicial Committee for Policy-making headed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was held here in Islamabad. Secretary Election Commission briefed the participants.

The committee while reviewing its verdict on petition filed by the Election Commission approved to contest election under the supervision of lower courts.

It was decided in the meeting that District Returning Officer and Returning Officers would be selected out of lower courts and their authority would be equal to DCO.

The committee also directed to the Election Commission to update constituencies and polling lists.

Chief Justice said if the Election Commission being an autonomous body seeks help from any institutions, it should be taken serious.

Furthering his statement, the CJP also said that he would like to implement the verdicts regarding electoral reforms. Federal Shari Court and chief justices of provincial high courts also attended the meeting of the committee.
