Summary Bill proposes that criticism on army, constitutional institutions will not be allowed.

Federal cabinet Wednesday approved election reforms, tax amnesty and land mapping amended bills.

 

The proposed election reforms bill raises expenditure for national assembly to Rs 0.50 million and for provincial assembly to Rs 0.35.

 

According to the bill complained regarding polling will be submitted with 120 days.

 

The fee for submission of papers be raised to Rs 20,000 for MNAs and Rs 10,000 for MPAs.

 

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has directed the law enforcing agencies of all provinces to beef up security arrangements and evolve a mechanism to maintain peace and harmony during the holy month of Moharram- ul-Haram.

 

In his opening remarks at the cabinet s meeting on Wednesday‚ he said the federal government would extend all possible assistance to the Provincial governments in this regard.

 

He voiced concerns over the ongoing spate of violence in Karachi and directed the law enforcing agencies to take all possible measures for improvement of law and order in the city.

 

He said miscreants are trying to create sectarian strife in Karachi.

 

Condemning the suicide attack on Rangers Headquarters in Karachi‚ the cabinet expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives in this cowardly act of terrorism.

 

The Federal Cabinet congratulated President Barack Obama on his re-election.

 

Raja Parvez Ashraf said Pakistan and United States have common bilateral interests and shared regional objectives of peace‚ security and stability.
