Summary Senator and SVP ANP Bushra Gohar Saturday said that religion should not be used in politics.

 

Addressing a special seminar in connection with “Malala Day” under the aegis of South Asian Free Media Association and South Asian Women in Media, Bushra Gohar said attack on Malala is an attack on whole nation.


The ANP leader said that Malala is a symbol of girls  education and defiance against those wishing to impose their obscurantist agenda behind the face of religion.


There are some elements who are declaring Malala an agent, she said, “Yes, Malala is an agent, an agent of change and we would support such kind of agents in our country”.


On the occasion, Senator Rubina Khalid said that Malala’s war against all those elements who are propagating against education particularly girls’ education.


“Malala was the nation’s daughter and we should be thankful to her. “We should all strive for a better society just like her”, she added.

 

Rubina Khalid said, “Our religion Islam teaches equality and provision of rights to the women, adding she quoted the example of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), His love and respect for His daughter of Hazrat Ayesha (RA).”


Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Diplomats, former ambassador and journalist Kishwar Naheed, Human Rights activist Marvi Sirmed, General Secretary Sirmed Manzoor, known journalist, students and others from various walks of life participated in the seminar to pay tributes to Malala Yousufzai.


Known poets including Shamoon Hashmi, Mehmoodia Ghazi, Haris Mehmood and Kishwar Naheed dedicated all their poems to Malala.
