A possible terrorism bid was averted Tuesday when a remote-controlled bomb was defused near Mazar-e-Quaid (the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah).Officials said the Bomb Disposal Squad was promptly called by police after people informed police helpline (15) about a suspicious parcel near Mazar-e-Quaid.The explosive material was defused within half an hour, one of the BDS members told the media on the spot, adding that five kilogram explosive was concealed in a packet and connected with remote-control.He said the bomb contained ball bearings.Heavy police contingents arrived at the site and cordoned off the area, evacuating citizens from the mausoleum as the bomb recovery caused panic among area people.
