Pakistan and the United States were close to arrest Osama bin Laden about five years ago but then lost him, former president Pervez Musharraf has said. The former president termed this a failure of Pakistan and US intelligence. Addressing at Sioux Falls College South Dakota, Musharraf maintained he wasnt sure whether bin Laden was dead or alive. Mr. Musharraf believed Al Qaeda could be ousted only with the full use of power and stressed the need of improving Pakistans economic condition with military and political cooperation. The former president opined that there wasnt any one group of Taliban and they had spread in form of an organization. They dont have one specific commander, Musharraf told.
