SJC advises sacking Justice Soomro for misconduct

Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) declaring Justice Afzal Soomro to have committed misconduct recommended the president to dismiss him, Dunya News reported Saturday. The Supreme Judicial Council meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. The charges against Justice Afzal regarding corruption and altering the records have been discussed during the meeting and all the members unanimously decided to send to the President Asif Ali Zardari the reference of dismissal of Justice Afzal from the service under Article 209 of the constitution. The reference is expected to be forwarded to the president in a day or two. After the SJC meeting Attorney General Sardar Latif Khosa told media,a reference is only sent to the president under Article 209 when misconduct has been proved against a judge.
