Malik, Kaira blame Punjab govt for violent protests

Summary Rehman Malik and Kaira have accused the Punjab govt for inciting violent protests in Islamabad.

Interior Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira Thursday said some workers of the banned outfits participated in rallies against US blasphemous film and instigated violence.He said the Punjab government did not try to stops protesters from different area from moving towards Islamabad.Talking to the media, Rehman Malik said that he had directed the Punjab government with written order to halt protestors but it did not follow the directions.“We would raise the issue in the Supreme Court and ask for judicial inquiry as to who brought thousands of protestors in Islamabad,” Malik said.He said that it was responsibility of the government to provide security to the people living in the Diplomatic Enclave, adding that the Army is alert and may be called at any time for restoration of peace in Islamabad.The protesting rallies would also be monitored by helicopters.Qamar Zaman Kaira said that police had not stopped protestors coming from Rawalpindi.The protesters were shouting political slogans which makes it clear that they had nothing to do with the anti-US rally. Their aim was to raise slogans against the government on behalf of the vested interests,” said Kaira.
