Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued contempt of court notices on Federal Minister Manzoor Wattoo, sugar mill owners, federal secretary for trade and provincial secretary for food and summoned them on October 8th. A divisional bench consisting of Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif and Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry heard the case. Advocate Shafqat Mehmood Chohan took position in the petition that the court had directed to fix sugar price at Rs 40 per kg but the federal government was not implementing the ruling. The petition also claims that during press conferences, Federal Minister for Industries and Production Manzoor Wattoo, Chairman Sugar Mills Association Sikandar Khan and Zonal Head of Punjab Sugar Mills Association Javed Kayani has many times used words that come under the contempt of court.
