Summary Supreme Court expressed resentment over Interior Minister Rehman Maliks absence.

The apex court on Wednesday re-issued an order asking Interior Minister Rehman Malik to appear in the court during next hearing.A two-member bench comprising Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk and Justice Ijaz Chaudhry resumed the contempt proceedings against Rehman Malik. Malik’s counsel Azhar Chaudhry while seeking more time from court, told the bench that he did not receive any documents regarding the case.Justice Ijaz Chaudhry remarked that contempt notice was issued against Rehman Malik under paragraph 55 of Steel Mills case verdict.The interior minister seems least interested in his defence, he added.Azhar Chaudhry remarked that the minister was attending federal cabinet’t meeting which is why he could not appear before the bench.
