Summary The Supreme Court heard the petition pertaining to the law and order situation in Balochistan.
A three-judge bench of the apex court, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Jawad S. Khawaja, heard the case at Supreme Court Quetta registry on Wednesday.During the proceedings, the bench expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of interior and defense secretaries.Stating the reason of interior secretarys absence, the deputy attorney general stated that he wasn’t able to get a flight.Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IGFC) major Obaidullah Khattak said that his team was trying to resolve the issue of missing persons on which the chief justice remarked that the top priority was to recover all the missing persons.Chief justice asked the IG FC to accept the failure over ensuring law and order on whichIG FC said forces werebeing targeted in 50 percent of the attacks in the province. He lamented that security forces had been sacrificing to restore peace in the province.Addressing the IG FC, chief justice said that no progess has been made in the missing persons’ case so far.
