Summary
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says that meeting between Pak-India foreign secretaries will bring a change in the charged atmosphere and might help pave the way for another meeting between Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh. He also announced to start backdoor diplomacy with India. Talking to a foreign newspaper in London, Qureshi maintained decision to initiate backdoor diplomacy between Pakistan and India had been taken after Mumbai attacks for which former foreign secretary Riaz Muhammad Khan might be appointed as Pakistans special envoy. The minister said he would meet Indian foreign minister SM Krishna on September 27 in New York. He hoped the meeting might help pave the way for Gilani-Manmohan meeting on the sidelines of a Commonwealth summit in Trinidad in November.
