Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that it was a wrong assessment of India that it could pressurize Pakistan with fabricated statements. Talking to media prior to his departure to the US to attend the UN General Assembly session, Qureshi said that he would meet Indian Foreign Minister and Foreign Secretary there, adding that he would raise the water issue in those meetings with Indian officials. Shah Mehmood Qureshi maintained that importance of the backdoor diplomacy could not be diluted and it might be used if was found in national interest, however, any other person, instead of Tariq Aziz, could be selected for this purpose. Kerry-Lugar Bill was approved by the US Senate and House of Representatives, he observed. Aid pouring in from the US would be used transparently by Pakistan, he added.
