Judiciary can go to any extent for rule of law: CJP

Summary CJP has said that judiciary can go to any extent for implementation on the constitution.

Addressing an Aftar dinner and farewell party in honour of SC Justice Shakirullah Jan, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that external factors did not affect the verdicts taken by a judge.The function of the Supreme Court is to maintain rule of law and superiority of the constitution, adding that the judiciary is bound to shoulder its responsibility as a significant pillar of the state.He made it clear that the verdicts of judiciary are not taken while keeping in view special personalities, vowing that the judiciary would continue to make judgments without any pressure at every cost.He said that the Supreme Court gets guideline out of law and the constitution. It should be made mandatory that the all the institutions should work while living within their jurisdiction, he concluded.
