Committee set up to amend blasphemy laws

National Assemblys Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Minorities has set up a sub-committee under the chairmanship of Nafeesa Shah for bringing together the suggestions to amend the blasphemy laws. A detailed report of Gojra incident was also presented before the committee. Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti said that administrations neglect caused the Gojra incidence. The culprits were still at large. Shahbaz Bhatti said that incidents against minorities were increasing in the country and inter-religious harmony should be promoted to stop these kinds of incidents. The Committee demanded that special quota should be given to minorities in the Constitutional Reforms Committee.
