Former president Pervez Musharraf said Friday that Al-Qaeda was involved in the September 11, 2001 attacks on World Trade Center, adding that it was still preparing to strike in various parts of the world including Pakistan. He said if Pakistan did not side with the United States in the war on terror, Pakistans own existence would have been threatened. During an interview in London, Musharraf maintained that Mullah Umers supporters still had stronghold in Afghanistan and the US need more army to defeat them. He reiterated that Pakistan was a front line state in war on terror and all Al-Qaeda members needed to be thrown out of the country. Former president and army chief said that Pakistan was being backstabbed in Balochistan as Baloch terrorists were being trained in Afghanistan. He refused to embrace the elements in Balochistan who did not accept Pakistan. Commenting on relations with India, Musharraf said that progress was being made in negotiations on Kashmir, Siachen and Sarkareek issues during his regime. He refused to comment on Kargil issue and said that he had addressed this issue in detail in his book.
