Tehreek-e-Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan arrested: ISPR
Spokesman of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Muslim Khan has been arrested. According to ISPR, militant commander Mehmood Khan was also arrested along with Muslim Khan. Other militant commanders who were apprehended by the security forces include Fazal Ghaffar, Abdur Rehman and Sartaj. Bounty on the heads of Muslim Khan and Mehmood Khan was Rs 10 million each. Muslim Khan belonged to Koza Bandi area of Swat and he was appointed as spokesman of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in April 2008. Muslim Khan connected to the banned militant organisation, Tehreek-e-Nefaze Shariate Muhammadi (TNSM) in 1994. He rose to the prominence when he was appointed spokesman of the TTP, Swat Chapter. On the other hand, Muslim Khans arrest at the 8th anniversary of 9/11 has been termed as a big success. Talking to Dunya News, former security secretary Brigadier (r) Mehmood Qureshi said that Muslim Khans arrest was a step forward and it would demoralise the Taliban. He said that the US achieved nothing in Afghanistan as compared to Muslim Khans arrest by the Pakistani security forces. He said that operation against the Taliban should be continued till the return of complete normalcy in the country. Human rights prominent activist Khalida Ghouse while talking to Dunya News said that fear was given the name of terror after 9/11 attacks. She said that this war on terror was not beneficial for Pakistan. Al-Qaeda was the main target of the US after 2001 but militancy, Taliban and later on, evil elements were also included in the war, she opined. Jamaat-e-Islami leader Liaquat Baloch calling Muslim Khans arrest a revengeful action said that he opposed the governments policy after 9/11. Talking to Dunya News, he said that the incumbent government especially ANP was disturbing the situation in the country.
