The 61st death anniversary of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is being observed today across the country. The day started with the special prayers in the mosques and other places of worship. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan offered Fateha Khawani and laid wreath at the Quaids tomb. Different organisations and educational institutions have also planned special seminars and ceremonies to pay rich tribute to the Quaid for rendering valuable services for the Muslims of the sub-continent. Quaid-e-Azam passed away on September 11, 1948 after suffering from severe diseases shortly after achieving independence for the nation. President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the best way to pay homage to Quaid-i-Azam is to continue struggling for his vision to achieve the goal of a federal and democratic polity. In his message on the 61st death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam, the President said, We have to strive for achieving the objectives for which Pakistan was created as a separate independent homeland for the Muslims of sub-continent. On the occasion, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that the best way to pay homage to the Quaid-i-Azam on his death anniversary is to adopt the principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline in our national life as envisaged by the great Quaid. He called for striving to establish a true democratic system in Pakistan.
