Summary The NA Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources met in Islamabad on Wednesday.
During meeting, Tariq Khatak, the chairman of the committee, said that prices of petroleum products should be maintained on previous week’s rate.He said the Standing Committee has unanimously rejected the recent price hike.The committee has also directed Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to take back the decision regarding increase in POL prices.Under the notification issued by Ogra, the price of petrol has increased by Rs 7.67 per litre, the price of High Octane Blending Component by Rs 7.64 per litre, high speed diesel by Rs 4.58 per litre, kerosene oil by Rs 4.49 per litre and the price of light diesel oil has increased by Rs 4.64 per litre. As a result, the new price of petrol will be Rs93.57 per litre, HOBC Rs 120.16, HSD Rs 101.79, kerosene oil Rs 92.88 and of light diesel oil Rs 90.11 per litre.On the other hand, Jamshed Dasti while criticizing the fuel price hike said OGRA is working with an oil mafia.Petrol is being hoarded four days earlier before the issuance of new petrol price notification, he added.
