Summary NA body asked members of the committee to give five names for recruitment in the department.

Meeting of National Assembly standing committee on Postal Services held under the chair of Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla to discuss the recruitments made in the department during last three years.Officials informed the committee that out of forth eight thousand employees, thirty two thousand employees are working on regular basis while sixteen thousand are on contract basis. Officials informed that 2050 employees have been recruited in the Pakistan Post during last three years in which 473 person have been recruited on daily wages.They told that 162 employees have been regularized after directions of Cabinet sub-committee.Members of the committee expressed their concerns over induction of daily wagers in the Pakistan Post adding that, their candidates have not been accommodated. Chairman of the committee asked the members to give five names of their candidates to the Pakistan Post and these would be accommodated. Chairman asked to follow merit regarding these recruitments.Officials further informed the Committee that traffic of Urgent Mail Service (UMS) has been increased to 51% in the country. Standing committee said that Ministry of Postal Services should be given status of a regulator rater to make another regulatory body to check the business of the private courier companies operational in the country.Standing committee directed Director General Postal Services to bring the copies of Pakistan Postal services management board (amendment) bill 2008 before the committee for discussing during the next meeting of the committee.Committee said that delay in the promulgation of the bill is not tolerable as it is causing loss of million of rupees to the national exchequer.
