Summary Registrar SC in a letter to NAB has said there was no need for him to appear before probe team.
According to sources Registrar SC will not appear beofre the NAB investigation team probing Dr Arsalan case.In reply to the NAB letter he said Spupreme Court had no evidence or documents regrding Dr Arsala case.He said the Supreme Court had alredy given its decision in the case, and there was no point in his appearing before the joint investigation team. NAB had also issued a notice to Arsalan Iftikhar to appear before the Joint Investigation Team of NAB but he did not appear.The NAB spokesperson said that notice has been again issued to Arsalan Iftikhar to appear before the team on July 26.The spokesperson added that Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, Salman Ahmed (son-in-law of former Chairman of Bahria Town Malik Riaz) and his business partner Ahmed Khalil on Monday excused themselves to appear before a Joint Investigation Team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).Arsalan had excused appearing before the JIT because he had reservations with Attorney General Irfan Qadir and with the NAB investigation team.Arsalan in his earlier petition had said that the attorney general has misinterpreted the court’s verdict and the team formed by the NAB is illegal.Salman Ahmed in a fax message sent from UK has mentioned that he was receiving life threats and it was not possible for him to travel to Pakistan. Salman Ahmed has, however, agreed to record his statement outside the country.Ahmed Khalil in his letter has informed the JIT that he is undergoing medical treatment in a hospital in Germany.Notice has also been issued to Dr Faqir Hussain, Registrar Supreme Court for personal appearance on 25-07-2012, the spokesperson said.
