By-election in NA-151, seat vacated by former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani after his disqualification, would be held today (Thursday).Ten candidates are contesting in by-election in the aforementioned constituency of the Multan while nine candidates are independent out of ten.The son of former PM Gilani, Abdul Qadir Gilani is the only candidate, who is contesting election on Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) ticket.The real competition of Abdul Qadir Gilani would be with Shaukat Hayat Boson, who is younger brother of former federal minister and leader Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Sikandar Hayat Boson.Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) did not announce to bring its candidate for by-election in NA-151, however¸ it is pertinent to mention here that the local leadership of PML-N is supporting Shaukat Hayat Boson.In his election campaign Shaukat Hayat Boson raised the issues including loadshedding, corruption, slogans of change and price hike etc, which were raised by PML-N and PTI against the ruling party PPP.On the one side, former PM Gilani is supporting his elder son and on the other side Sikandar Hayat Boson is supporting his younger brother.Former PM Gilani addressing a public gathering during election campaign of PPP candidate Abdul Qadir Gilani on Sher Shah Road, said that the independents of media and judiciary which we are experiencing today is the fruit of PPP and endeavors of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.Gilani said that his disqualification disgraced the mandate of the people, therefore, adding “We again came to the court of the masses, he said that the people of NA-151 would cast their vote in favour of his son.He said that PPP would never bow down in front of any dictator, rather we faced them courageously with the power and support of the masses. If all institutions would remain in their domain, then there would b no confrontation among them, the former PM added.
