Summary Electricity shortfall has been increasing due to closure of five power plants and shortage of oil.
According to PEPCO sources, electricity generation currently stands at 13, 230MW against the demand of 18,507MW.Hydel power plants are generating up to 4,527MW, Thermal 1, 690MW and 6,374MW electricity is being supplied by IPPs.Meanwhile, urban areas are facing 14-16 hours of power cuts while rural areas are facing 18-20 hours of load shedding.
