Summary Punjab government has acquired the services of 150 Army doctors who will take charge from today.

Besides, the government has issued recruitment notification of 454 women medical officers (WMOs) through the Punjab public service commission (PPSC) and posted them to different hospitals of the province to ensure uninterrupted delivery of medical care.The government also announced to take immediate action against the protesting doctors.According to the posting plan, a separate team of 26 doctors have been appointed in Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Ganga Ram, Services, Children, and Jinnah hospital while 28 doctors in Mayo and 25 WMOs in Jinnah hospital have been placed.The newly appointed doctors have been directed to report to MS by July 2.Meanwhile, senior doctors met chief minister Shahbaz Sharif and sought a deadline of 24 hours to end the ongoing strike.During the meeting, Punjab CM declared the strike illegal and said talks can only be held if doctors end their strike immediately.According to sources, the provincial government is mulling to cancel the license of protesting doctors and ban them from private practice.Cancelling weekly off, the Punjab government has directed all doctors and staff of all hospitals to come on Sunday.Meanwhile, the health department said several young doctors have agreed to resume their duties.
