Summary NA body has revealed that diesel of Rs 1.5 m is being stolen from Lahore and Rawalpindi daily.

The Standing Committee for Railways held a meeting with the chair of Chairman Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq.NAB officials briefed the committee on different cases including Railway Scrap Scandal and purchase of 69 engines.The officials said that 27 long Railway line destroyed in floodwaters last year has been seized when it was being put for sale in Misry Shah Lahore.The committee also directed that investigation circle of railway lines and diesel theft should be extended; so that the people involved in heinous offense may be brought to justice.The committee while taking notice of railways land given to a private educational institute on lease directed the NAB to conduct an enquiry in this regard.On the other hand, the committee has also recommended taking action against ex-military men involved in the scandal.The NAB also briefed the committee that the land of Royal Palm Golf Lahore was given to favorite contractor. It has caused loss worth Rs five billion which may be increased by Rs 16 billion.The committee was told that former Railways Minister Lieutenant General (r) Javed Ashraf Qazi, ex-chairman Railways Lieutenant General (r) Saeed Zafer and ex-GM Major General (r) Hamid Hasan Butt are involved in the scandal.The committee was also told that there is horrible corruption in the purchase of spare parts which caused loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer.
