The second session of the ongoing two-day ministerial level meeting of Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) continues in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Tuesday. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan was a democratic country where all the institutions were working under the law. Addressing the session, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Parliament was sovereign, judiciary and media independent, and society was active in Pakistan. The meeting discussed ways of boosting investment and private entrepreneurship in Pakistan besides mulling over the security situation of the country. Ways to eradicate poverty and to tackle prevailing energy crisis in Pakistan also discussed in todays session. Recommendations of todays meeting would be presented in the next FoDP summit to be held in New York on Sept 24. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that friends must immediately provide aid promised in Donors Conference in Tokyo for the rehabilitation of IDPs. He said in an interview that the donors promised to give $ 5.70 billion but only transferred $ 3 billion.
