Haj quota case: LHC seeks reply from Secy Religious Affairs

Summary LHC sought reply from Secretary Religious Affairs for not giving Haj quota to new tour operators.

In this regard, a petition of contempt court was moved in the Lahore High Court where petitioners’ lawyer Azher Siddique Advocate while arguing said that despite court orders, new Hajj tour operators were not been provided with special quota while about 721 old tour operators have been allotted quota without any scrutiny. LHC Chief Justice while passing his remarks said that names of petitioners hailing from Karachi should be removed in this petition. The court is only entitled to deliver justice while keeping in view its jurisdiction.The court has sought an explanation from federal secretary for religious affairs on June 20.
