Summary Angry masses are protesting against energy crisis across Punjab.
Residents of urban areas are observing load shedding for more than 12 hours while denizens of urban areas are facing power outages for 18-20 hours.The severe energy crisis forced people to take to the streets across Punjab on Sunday.Citizens staged a protest against severe power outages in Garhi Shahu area of Lahore. The angry mob hurled stones at cars and blocked the main road. Meanwhile, police resorted to aerial firing to disperse the crowd.In Faisalabad, citizens burnt tyres and blocked the Samundari road. The protesters chanted slogans against the government.Similarly, angry demonstrators closed shops in protest against energy crisis.The protestors lamented that power outages for more than 20 hours was not acceptable.The demonstrators surrounded the house of a member of National assembly in Chichi Watni and smashed the furniture of Wapda office.Cases have been registered against 150 people for destroying the record of Wapda in Chicha Watni.Similar protests were staged in other cities including Sahiwal, Multan, Bhalwal and Jhelum.The protestors demanded an end to unscheduled load shedding across the province.
