Summary Power shortfall has reached to 7000MW in the country.
Owing to the low supply of fuel and gas to power plants, the current power generation remains 10700MW while the demand stands at 17900MW.Hydel power plants are generating up to 4512 MW, Thermal 1330 MW and 4850 MW electricity is being supplied by IPP’s.The IPPs are producing less electricity than their capacity due to shortage of oil and gas.Meanwhile, the electricity of urban areas has been cut for 14-16 hours while power remained cut for 18-20 hours in the rural areas.
