Summary The Senate standing committee has rejected proposal to decrease tax imposed on CNG.
The Senate Standing Committee on Finance in its meeting endorsed government decision to enhance tax on CNG.Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (ANP) proposed decrease on tax on CNG which was opposed by senators from Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senators after which the committee endorsed the government decision.Senate Standing Committee on Finance unanimously recommended to the federal government that only the elected former presidents and prime ministers should be eligible for privileges in the Finance Bill 2012.
