Two-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed the hearing of National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) case on Thursday.The chief justice in his remarks said that corruption could not be eliminated unless transparent investigations were conducted into such cases.He said it is strange that the Supreme Court has to take action to register case against corruption and it was also the SC that ordered registration of case against Aziz Niazi.The CJ said that favourite people are appointed as DG FIA. Javed Iqbal was willing to work but he was also removed from the post, the CJP remarked.Justice Jawad S Khawaja in his remarks said, some progress is made when a matter is brought to the Supreme Court.Director FIA Muazim Jah told the court that Aziz Niazi was not eligible for the position of Chairman NICL.He told the court that some cash was transferred to Amin Fahim’s account from the joint account of Rs 900 million.Director FIA further told the court that he was ‘under immense pressure’. On this, the CJP said only conscience puts one under pressure.The apex court ordered the commerce secretary to appear on Friday and adjourned the hearing.
