Kamel upsets favourites, wins 1500meter race

Bahraini athlete Yusuf Saad Kamel upset the favourites to claim a first gold medal for Bahrain at the World Championships in the 1,500m in Berlin. US defending Champion Bernard who was favorite this time also could win the bonze medal. The Kenyan-born runner, formerly known as Gregory Konchellah and son of former two-time 800m world champion Billy, has been running for Kenya since 2003. Kamel kept running along with other athletes in the start but in last 70 meters he left behind all others. Kamels father was also an athlete and had been world champion twice in 800 meter race. Kamel showed utmost joy on winning the title and said, My dream came true.
