US special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke had a meeting with Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen. In the meeting with Richard Holbrooke, views were exchanged regarding the energy crisis continuing in the country. Finance Minister also insisted upon promoting Pakistani goods in US because this matter is not being taken up very seriously by the US. Holbrooke also promised to establish reconstruction opportunity zone in the tribal areas of Paksitan; where as US has put up a condition of signing a two-way investment pact. Views were also exchanged upon the agenda of Friends of Pakistan meeting to be held in Istanbul, from 23rd to 24th August. Both the representatives talked about the situation of IDPs and the promises made on the forum of FODP must be fulfilled.
