Taliban should provide evidence to prove that Baitullah Mehsud is still alive, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said after reports that Mehsud has been killed. In an interview with BBC Rehman Malik said that according to the intelligence reports an important Taliban leader was killed in a shoot-out between Mehsuds potential successors. He said that reliable sources from North Waziristan had confirmed the death of Mehsud however the government didnt have any solid proof of it. He said the government would confirm his death after finding his dead body or the DNA in 48 hours. He said that Taliban were getting punishment from every side for carrying out murder rampage. He said that firing on the issue of succession in North Waziristan was not a tale but a real incident, adding that the state-run television had confirmed the death of Hakeemullah and Waliur Rehman in the firing incident.
