Summary COAS has said the armed forces want solution to Siachen issue through dialogue with India.
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Wednesday said that Siachen is a difficult front both for Pakistan and India and the resources should be spent on the public welfare.He said this during his visit to Gayari sector to review the search and rescue operation which is underway with full pace.According to the sources, statement issued by the COAS said “The world knows why we are in Siachen.”Kayani said that Pakistan had deployed its forces in Siachen in response to India.He said we want to resolve all outstanding issues with India including Siachen through dialogues.“We want peaceful co-existence with India as amicable neighbors; however, our desire for should not be misconstrued as weakness,” the Army Chief remarked.General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani urged that both Pakistan and India should spend their resources on public welfare.
