Advisor to Prime Minister for Finance, Shaukat Tareen, has unofficially been elected senator unopposed. No one else filed nomination papers to contest the Senate seat which had fallen vacant after resignation by Senator Javed Leghari. Shaukat Treen filed his nomination paper before the Provincial Election Commissioner on Tuesday. Sindh Home Minister, Dr Zulfikar Mirza, Local Government Minister, Agha Siraj Durrani, MQM Minister Shoaib Bukhari and others were also present on the occasion. Talking to media after submitting paper from Sindh Tareen had said that government had overcome a big economic crisis in 10 months. He said that loans in the international market were not available on less than 15 percent mark-up yet IMF was giving loan on 2.5 percent mark-up. CM Qaim Ali Shah said that other office bearer of the party had also submitted papers for the slot however the ticket was awarded to Tareen on merit.
