Summary Punjab reports 16 dengue cases so far this year, with officials warning of a possible rise and urging strict preventive measures, especially in identified high-risk areas.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – At least 16 cases of Dengue fever have been reported across Punjab so far this year, with authorities warning of a potential rise in infections in the coming months.

According to health officials, cases have started appearing in different parts of the province, including Lahore, where three infections have been confirmed.

Officials said more than 1,000 dengue hotspots have been identified in Lahore, prompting intensified surveillance and preventive measures. Provincial health authorities fear that favourable weather conditions could contribute to a surge in cases.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said authorities are focusing on eliminating dengue hotspots and urged citizens to strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).

He advised residents to ensure timely spraying in areas where dengue larvae or confirmed cases are detected, stressing that public cooperation remains essential to control the spread of the virus.

Health departments across Punjab have been placed on alert, with teams conducting inspections and awareness campaigns to minimise the risk of a wider outbreak.
